Update & Fun Union Jack Dress!

Just checking in. I haven't entered a major sewing dry spell or anything. It's just been a crazy time, because I did a lot of celebrating for my 27th birthday last week. I'm also working on an article for a friend's magazine. I do have lots of posting to do and will do a real update in the coming days.

In the meantime, enjoy this quirky vintage mod image. I've always wanted to make a union jack dress but haven't found the fabric!

  1. I remember Geri (Ginger Spice)from the Spice Girls sporting a Union Jack dress at the Brit Awards, I so wanted one!!!

You can get Union Jack tops in London and cheap made Union Jack dresses, I'm sure with the Royal Wedding you might be able to find some Union Jack fabric!!!

  2. Have you tried Ebay? Not sure it this will work for you:

    Happy Belated Birthday!

  3. Or you could just use what they did in the sixties, large flags....mod blazers and dress were made from British flags back then (at least the first ones) Plus you can probably pick then up cheap, just as long as they're not the nylon ones.

  4. @Popbabe: I remember that dress too. Very cool! I was actually looking online at British stores and I noticed that overall the stores in Britain seem better than those in America, at least for my style. I'm jealous! Anyway, you may be right about the royal wedding-- that might inspire some producers of fabric.

@Eleen: Thanks for the birthday wishes. That might work but I'm not sure because of the cotton factor-- I'll have to check it out closer. Thanks for the link!

@dandy: Interesting idea! I will have to check into that.
