Mod Mini Skirt Project: Boho/Hippie Inspired Look

Matching invisible zipper colors is challenging
when Joann's is out of any orange or orangey colors

I made this mini-skirt out of rust orange polyester I purchased on "Art Fire." It goes great with some early 70's hippie accessories, but I didn't go too overboard for fear of being too "costumey." Besides, I don't want to misrepresent myself as a hippie. Being the introvert that I am, I'd go postal if I had to live a commune! And growing your own food...if you want your plants to die, pick me!

I was lucky to find the belt at a local thrift store here in Atlanta. I love the suede-look (probably faux) and the dangling fringe. I was also lucky to find the necklace at the Scott Antique Market here in Atlanta. When I saw it, I fell in love with the pendant, because it reminds me of a 1950's wall sculpture. Despite being 50's inspired, it goes great with this ensemble, since the colors are earth-tones.



Now, if I could only find some knee-high platform boots in rust orange...

My 5th Dress- 60's Boho with Bell Sleeves

I'm almost done with Simplicity 8234 (View 1). I'm using this black and white patterned fabric I got at Joann's (100% cotton). Almost done. So far no major disasters. Just a few minor crises. I bonded with my seam ripper a few times. I think I should name my seam ripper, since I spend so much time with it ; - )

More to come, along with pics, in the next few days. I wanted to finish it tonight, but I've learned that I tend to rush when I work late night and then I pay for it by making a bunch of mistakes.
